1 Package (sleeve) saltine crackers crushed to crumbs and small pieces
1 Cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 Egg
¼ Cup milk
1 Small (6oz) can of tomato paste
1 Pound lean ground beef (the leaner the better)
1.5 Tablespoons parsley
1 Teaspoon minced garlic
1 Teaspoon basil

4 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 Tablespoon mustard
½ Cup of Ketchup


  1. PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Set aside greased loaf pan.
  3. Combine all main ingredients in a bowl (I recommend adding the raw beef last, so then your hands can mash it all together and put it into the loaf pan, and only have to wash your hands once after handling the beef).
  4. Place mixed ingredients in loaf pan.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together all the topping ingredients.
  6. Spread topping over loaf in loaf pan.
  7. Cover loaf pan with aluminum foil.
  8. Bake in oven for 50 minutes.
  9. Remove foil from loaf pan, bake an additional 40 minutes, uncovered.
  10. Remove from oven, let cool a little, and enjoy!
